A house list, in email marketing, is a list of email addresses of high-quality prospects which you build yourself. It can be a newsletter email list, a list of people who’ve used your service or product before, or a list of people who have subscribed to receive notifications whenever you have an announcement or special sale. House lists contain more than mere email addresses. They also include age, sex, location, and past interaction of the prospect with the business.
Using a house list, a business can build on an already established relationship. Since the recipients listed have somehow already interacted with the business, there is an increased chance for making sales. The messages are therefore relevant to the recipient and differ from spam where they are unsolicited. A house list represents a vital marketing asset as it results in laser targeted marketing, thus more leads.
The term opt-out refers to several methods by which individuals can avoid receiving unsolicited product information or service information. This ability is associated with direct marketing campaigns like email marketing. A list of those people who have opted out is known as a Robinson list. In email marketing an opt-out button may be included to notify the sender that the recipient wants no further emails.
The opt-out button is simply used by the recipients to disallow any further emails from the marketers. This option also helps the marketers to judge their reputation as the more they are opted-out by the users the more backward they stand in the tough online competitive era. But this option is also included to inculcate a good image in the minds of the users and subscribers about the marketers being genuine.
